Golden Week 6 – Off To Tokyo!

Tokyo is SUCH an amazing city. It’s huge, has sooo many people in it, and it’s just pulsing with so much energy. It truly is a global city. I’d love to live there someday (for a short time, though). It’s so busy and so modern. Everything’s always changing and adapting to sell things and draw people in. I am in love with it.

We stayed at the tennozu seafort hotel

The view from the top was great!

That night, we were exhausted, so we went to bed super early, but we woke up super early so we got to see the sunrise. I ran up to the top of the hotel to take a few pictures of the sunrise over Toyko. It was really amazing.

And here’s me behind the camera. This photo was pulled into a gallery on flickr.

It works, doesn’t it?

The amazing thing about Tokyo is the amount of engineering that has gone into the city. There are highways built on the water, and monorails next to the highways, and trains crisscross over and under those, and people walk under the cement at your feet. It’s insane.

There’s more going under those roads. Tokyo’s like a big anthill.

We went to Ueno park and saw the Museum of Western Art and the “Gates of Hell” and the thinking man…

Then we headed to Asakusa to see Senso-ji temple. This place was crazy popular and there were people everywhere. I don’t know the layout of Tokyo so well so when we came up out of the subway station we were a little surprised to see the Tokyo Skytree! It’s the tallest tower in the world and opened on May 22.

Senso-ji is pretty amazing. It was super crowded. You can see a lot of representations of Japanese history here.

I’ve noticed that I take a lot less photos of myself since I got the new camera. People don’t know what to do with it when I ask them to take a picture. But I did this time, so here ya go Mom…

I’m going to leave this post here, but there’s more to come, so stay tuned…
