Shirl Comes to Shirakawago!

IMG_1087

My English teacher from high school and I have been friends for a long time and when she started teaching in South Korea last year we were hoping to get to visit each other and share the experiences that our new locations have provided us. Since she came to Nagoya I decided we could go see Shirakawago, which is a world heritage site. The snow can reach 2 meters high in the winter! So I wanted to see what it was like in the wintertime.

Shirl teaches English in South Korea at an all-English campus. It was excellent to see her again! You can see her blog here.

We stayed in one of the gassho style houses and got a delicious, Hida-beef dinner. It was really amazing!

Not going anywhere for awhile?

The whole trip was excellent. We got to sit in an authentic bath (which literally cooked us alive).

I’ll post more on this later.
